Home About Us What we Do Meet the Directors Quality Clients Contact

First Research has been actively trading since May 2005 and has already won a number of contracts covering the range of services we offer. As well as those detailed below, we have also completed a number of additional research projects for other clients who prefer to remain anonymous.

These additional projects include employee surveys (postal and online), customer surveys, stakeholder surveys and recruitment to focus groups.

First Research has also acted on a consultancy basis for several local marketing companies when pitching for new accounts, and has undertaken a number of data cleansing and data analysis jobs.

"The transition to outsourcing the tourism research and statistics function from in-house to First Research was seamless and we continue to receive an excellent level of service. It is a good example of how States objectives can be achieved and we are pleased with the overall result."

Kevin Lemasney, Corporate Strategy and Policy Executive - Economic Development Department

"We approached First Research with a project that needed completion within a very short time scale. First Research delivered a professional service to budget and schedule, and their local knowledge and availability were invaluable in achieving a successful response to a complex and lengthy questionnaire. The reports and results have been incorporated into our business planning process and are key to understanding how to meet the future demands of our stakeholders."

Sarah Price, Research and Projects Officer - Jersey Harbours

"First Research were responsive, professional to deal with and willing to go the extra mile to meet our needs. We will be working with Julian and Bob again in the future."

Steve Smith, Managing Director - Unlimited Exposure Public Relations

Jersey Tourism

By managing the Visitor Registration Scheme and additional exit surveys, First Research provides all statistical and profile information on the Tourism Industry in Jersey. A sample of the data available can be found by visiting the Jersey Tourism marketing information website.

As well as providing visitor statistics and profiles, we also manage quantitative and qualitative research projects that assist in developing the brand, advertising and other promotional material - including the website, print and photography.

We also provide an ongoing service to measure and evaluate the responses to, and conversion from, advertising campaigns. First Research are also involved in drawing up marketing plans and in database development and direct marketing.

Jersey Tourism Visitor Survey

First Research is currently undertaking a year-long postal survey of UK, French and German staying leisure visitors to better understand the profile of visitors, their planning and booking arrangements, what they do whilst in Jersey and their levels of satisfaction with various elements of the holiday experience.

Jersey Passenger Survey

Throughout 2007, First Research will be conducting face-to-face interviews with departing passengers at the Airport and Harbours to break down passenger arrivals into resident and visitors, to ascertain purpose of visit, country of residence and how much they paid for their travel. A sample of visitors will also be asked detailed questions about their expenditure whilst in Jersey.

Jersey Royal Potato Post

Using Microsoft Access, First Research designed a bespoke direct marketing database for the export of fresh produce. Designed around a complex distribution system, this had the functionality of processing orders, printing custom designed labels according to delivery deadlines, and tracking order and customer history and value.

We also helped in customer profiling, planning direct mail shots and in media planning.

Response and order levels exceeded expectations, while the administrative and operational time involved in processing and fulfilling orders was cut significantly. Customer satisfaction survey data was linked back into the customer database.

Jersey Harbours

First Research assisted in the future development of Jersey Harbours' service delivery and infrastructure by researching a variety of stakeholder groups.

A self-completion, 8-page postal survey of boat owners achieved a response rate of 43% over a 3-week fieldwork period.

We also undertook face-to-face interviews with marine trade businesses and marine clubs and associations and achieved a response rate of 78%.

States of Guernsey Department of Commerce and Employment

First Research has an ongoing contract to set up and manage an electronically-based Visitor Registration Scheme, with associated databases and reporting, to measure visitor volumes, profiles and accommodation occupancy rates.

Orchid Communications

First Research set up a bespoke contact management and time sheet database in order to help Orchid better manage their contacts and to measure chargeable time against clients and specific projects.

This enabled Orchid to track value and refine their resource allocation and costings for ongoing contracts and future tenders.

Genuine Jersey Products Association

First Research conducted a self-completion survey at various Jersey retail outlets to determine the awareness, perceptions and strength of the Genuine Jersey brand.

Unlimited Exposure Public Relations

First Research set up a data entry screen, inputted 200 questionnaires and ran a top line analysis of the findings for a client of this agency to a deadline of less than a day.

First Research has also helped Unlimited Exposure with a customer satisfaction and profiling survey for another client by assisting in the questionnaire design, data inputting the completed questionnaires and writing the report on the findings.

The Club Hotel and Spa

First Research has set up a bespoke contact management and direct marketing database.

This has enabled The Club Hotel and Spa to look up contacts easily and send targeted direct mail pieces to specific groups of customers.

Jersey Boat Owners and Marine Trade Working Party on Fuel Duty

First Research was commissioned to coordinate the response to a public consultation document suggesting the introduction of duty on marine fuel.

First Research provided the petition and full response document which was sent to all States members. As a result of this, and other submissions, the Treasury Minister dropped all plans to introduce the proposed duty.
