First Research

Bob Pallot, the founder and managing director of First Research has 10 years experience of managing a wide range of research projects and data analysis. The company also works closely in partnership with Julian Barber, managing director of Island ARK, who has over 15 years of experience inmarket research. 

Both Bob and Julian are Associate Members of the Market Research Society and both have backgrounds in marketing within the public and private sectors.

Bob Pallot

Bob has a BSc. Hons degree in Hotel Catering and Tourism Management and has worked for several international hotel companies, as well as running his own hotel in Jersey.

Prior to forming First Research, Bob spent the previous 6 years managing a variety of research projects and undertaking extensive data analysis and performance monitoring as the Research and Statistics Manager for Jersey's Economic Development Department.

When he's not at his computer, you can generally find Bob out fishing somewhere.

Julian Barber

Julian has a BSc. Hons degree in Mathematical Statistics and Operational Research and a European Masters MSc. Degree in Leisure and Tourism.

Julian has worked on the client side, primarily on tourism, retail and advertising related research projects from 1994 to 2005, and has also been responsible for pan-European strategic planning and marketing campaigns.

Julian is also a member of the Institute of Direct Marketing and the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has won several local awards for marketing campaigns he has managed. Two of the key factors that have led to the success of the CIM award submissions have been the research and planning that has gone in to campaign development, and the measurability of the impact of campaign activity.

Apart from research and database design, his main interests are sailing in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
